500 Students and Counting: Giiyo Tech's Impact Across Cameroon

When Giiyo Tech launched its first STEM Club in a small classroom in Douala, it started with 18 students, two laptops, and a lot of determination. Today, more than 5,000 students across Cameroon have learned to code, build robots, design apps, and think like technologists through our programmes.

That number represents something far larger than a headcount. It is 5,000 children who were shown that technology is not something that happens to them — it is something they can build.

Where We Have Reached

Giiyo Tech programmes currently operate across multiple cities and towns in Cameroon, including Douala, Yaoundé, Limbe, Buea, and Bafoussam. We work with government schools, private schools, community centres, and churches — wherever children are gathered and space can be made for learning.

What Students Are Building

The projects that emerge from Giiyo Tech programmes reflect the creativity and ambition of Cameroonian youth. In recent terms, students have built:

The Skills Behind the Projects

Behind every project is a student who learned something real. Across our programmes, students gain skills in:

Beyond Technical Skills: What the Data Shows

We survey students and teachers after every programme. The results consistently show that the most significant changes are not always in technical ability — they are in confidence, curiosity, and belief.

More than 80% of students say they feel more confident using technology after completing a Giiyo Tech programme. More than 70% of teachers report that STEM Club participants show improved problem-solving skills in their other subjects.

Looking at the Next 5,000

Five thousand students is something to celebrate. But Cameroon has millions of children who deserve access to quality technology education, and we are just getting started.

Our goal is to triple our reach in the next two years, expanding into more regions, more schools, and more holiday bootcamp locations. That growth depends on the sponsors, partners, and supporters who believe — as we do — that every Cameroonian child deserves the tools to shape their own digital future.
