Across ten sessions students build the computer network of a fictional company, CamTech, then learn to find its weaknesses and secure it. Sessions are hands-on: students spend most of their time building, not listening.
CyberBridge is taught by Nady Fotie, a Cameroonian cybersecurity student in the United States, who joins each session live. A member of the Giiyo Tech team is in the room with the students at every session.
What you will do, session by session
- What is a network? Build your first one
- Network devices and how to choose them
- IP addresses and how devices find each other
- Automatic addressing, and fixing it when it breaks
- How information travels between networks
- Websites, email and the servers behind them
- Reaching a network from outside it, safely
- Finding the weak points in a network
- Firewalls and locking a network down
- Final project: build and defend CamTech
What you need
- Nothing to buy. The lab provides the computers and the software is free.
- An email address, so we can set up your free Cisco Networking Academy account. We will help if you do not have one.
- No previous experience with computers, networking or programming.
