Our Commitment to Transparency
Giiyo Tech is an initiative of Giiyo Foundation, a registered nonprofit organization in Cameroon (Reg. No. 00001551/ARDA/JO6/SAJPA/APPB). We are committed to responsible financial stewardship and complete transparency about how donations are used.
As a growing organization in Cameroon, we face unique challenges with banking infrastructure. We currently use mobile money for local donations due to these limitations, but we maintain strict financial controls and are working toward professional banking solutions as we scale.
How We Use Donations
Program Delivery (60%)
STEM club sessions, workshop materials, instructor fees, and program coordination across our locations in Cameroon.
Equipment & Materials (25%)
Laptops, tablets, robotics kits, 3D printers, and learning materials for student hands-on learning experiences.
Operations (10%)
Venue costs, utilities, transportation for instructors, and basic administrative expenses to keep programs running.
Reserve Fund (5%)
Emergency fund for unexpected expenses and to ensure program continuity during challenging periods.
Our Accountability Measures
Donation Receipts
Every donation receives a receipt upon request. Email us at hello@giiyotech.com after donating and we will provide official documentation for your records.
Cryptocurrency Verification
Cardano (ADA) donations can be independently verified on the blockchain using our public wallet address, providing an extra layer of transparency for crypto donors.
Regular Impact Updates
We share regular updates through our website, social media, and newsletter about how donations are being used and the impact they're creating in communities across Cameroon.
Board Oversight
Our financial decisions are reviewed by our leadership team to ensure responsible use of resources and alignment with our mission.
Why Mobile Money?
You may notice that we primarily use mobile money (MTN MoMo and Orange Money) for donations within Cameroon. This is a deliberate choice based on the local context:
- Accessibility: Mobile money is widely used across Cameroon and accessible to people who may not have traditional bank accounts.
- Speed: Mobile money transfers are instant, allowing us to quickly respond to program needs and opportunities.
- Banking Limitations: As a growing nonprofit, establishing traditional banking relationships takes time. Mobile money allows us to operate while we build toward more sophisticated financial infrastructure.
- Transparency: Every mobile money transaction is recorded and tracked, with receipts available for all donations.
We are actively working toward establishing professional banking relationships and international payment processing capabilities as our organization grows. This evolution will allow us to serve more donors and expand our impact.
